Milling + Prep + Paving
The foundation matters.
Most driveways and lots that crack, sink or puddle failed underneath first. That is why we spend the time on what you will never see: milling or excavating the old surface, building the base, grading for water and compacting every layer before the new asphalt goes down.
- 01
Base prep
We dig out soft soil and old failed material, then build a compacted aggregate base sized to what will drive on it. Asphalt is only as good as what is under it.
- 02
Grading
Every surface is pitched so water runs off and away from the house, garage or building. Standing water is what breaks pavement down in a New Jersey winter.
- 03
Compaction
The base is compacted in lifts and the hot asphalt is rolled while it is still workable, so the surface is dense, tight and resists ruts and raveling.
- 04
Proper thickness
Driveways and parking lots get the compacted asphalt thickness the job calls for, measured, not guessed. Parking lots usually go down in two layers.
