Asphalt Driveway & Parking Lot Paving in Strathmore, NJ

Asphalt driveways and parking lots in Strathmore: excavation, base, grading and paving by a family-owned, licensed crew. Free estimates.

Strathmore is a residential community within Aberdeen Township in northern Monmouth County, recognized by the Census as its own place. It was built out largely as a single planned subdivision in the postwar building boom, which is why so many of its streets share the same rhythm of ranches, split-levels and two-story models on similar lots. Dan The Paver replaces and builds asphalt driveways throughout Strathmore and handles asphalt parking lots for nearby commercial and multi-family properties. For township-wide information, see our Aberdeen paving page.

Driveways in a planned neighborhood

Because Strathmore was developed in one sweep, the original driveways were built the same way and are aging the same way. Many are narrow, straight runs to an attached garage, with aprons that have taken years of street plowing and curb-side wear. Homeowners often want a wider drive, a cleaner edge or a fresh surface that matches a renovated house.

We start by checking the base. If the original base was thin, new asphalt on top only hides the problem for a while, so on many Strathmore homes the better choice is full asphalt driveway paving: removal, a new compacted aggregate base, and new asphalt. Where the base is still sound, milling and repaving can be a smart, lower-impact option.

Soil and water near Matawan Creek

Northern Monmouth soils are a mix of sand and finer silt and clay layers, and areas closer to Matawan Creek and the bay side of the township can stay damp. We dig out soft spots, compact the base in lifts and slope the finished driveway toward the street so water never runs to the garage.

Commercial work nearby

The Route 34 and Route 35 corridors close to Strathmore have plazas, offices and apartment complexes, and the Aberdeen-Matawan train station draws commuter parking. For owners and managers we offer parking lot paving with milling and base repair included where needed.

Strathmore also sits close to Matawan and Hazlet. Find more communities on our Monmouth County page, and remember to confirm driveway rules with Aberdeen Township before work begins.

Strathmore paving questions

Is Strathmore its own town for permits, or do I go through Aberdeen?

Strathmore is a community inside Aberdeen Township, not a separate municipality. Driveway questions about aprons, curb cuts or impervious coverage go to Aberdeen's construction and zoning office. Your mailing address and neighborhood name may say Strathmore, but the township is the local authority for any approvals.

Many Strathmore houses have the same original layout. Can we widen ours for a second car?

Often, yes. A lot of the original Strathmore homes were built with a single-car width drive that no longer suits a household with two or three vehicles. If the lot has room beside the existing drive and the township's coverage limits allow it, we can widen it and repave the whole surface so it looks like one piece instead of an add-on strip.
