Point Pleasant is a mainland borough in northern Ocean County, wrapped by the Manasquan River, Beaver Dam Creek and the Point Pleasant Canal, with lagoons reaching into many of its neighborhoods. Dan The Paver installs and replaces asphalt driveways across the borough and repaves asphalt parking lots for its shops, marinas, offices and churches.
Neighborhood character
Much of Point Pleasant is made up of year-round neighborhoods with capes, ranches and colonials on regular suburban lots, plus waterfront streets where homes sit along lagoons, the river and the canal. Driveways are mostly single runs to an attached or detached garage, some with a side extension for a boat trailer or a second car. Along the water, lots are narrower, and many homes were raised after Hurricane Sandy, which changes how the driveway meets the house.
Route 88 and Bridge Avenue carry most of the through traffic, and both cross the canal toward the beach. Side streets off those routes tend to be quiet, but on-street parking is tight, so we plan staging ahead of time.
Waterfront drainage and the base underneath
Point Pleasant sits on sandy coastal plain soil, and much of the borough is low and close to tidal water. That brings two common problems: settling where lots were filled, and water that has nowhere to go after a storm. Before we pave, we look at where your property drains and how high the water table sits.
On a typical job we excavate the failed asphalt and any soft material, compact the subgrade, add dense-graded aggregate and roll it firm, then place the asphalt with a pitch toward the street or a lawn area. Lagoon lots often need more base than inland lots. If you want extra width for a trailer, our driveway widening work extends that same base under the new section.
Parking lots on Route 88 and Bridge Avenue
Strip centers, restaurants, medical offices, marinas and churches along Route 88 and Bridge Avenue need lots that hold up to daily traffic and drain cleanly. We mill worn surfaces, rebuild weak spots and repave so water flows to existing inlets.
Permits
Changes to driveway width, aprons or curb cuts may need approval from the Point Pleasant Borough construction or zoning office. Waterfront lots may also have coverage limits, so ask before you plan a bigger drive.

Is the Point Pleasant page the same as Point Pleasant Beach?
No. Point Pleasant Borough is the larger mainland town along the Manasquan River, Beaver Dam Creek and the Point Pleasant Canal. Point Pleasant Beach is a separate borough on the ocean side. We serve both, and each has its own construction and zoning office.
My house is on a lagoon off the Manasquan River. Why does my driveway keep sinking?
Many lagoon lots in Point Pleasant were built on fill over wet ground, close to the water table. When organic material in that fill breaks down, the driveway settles. A lasting fix means digging out the soft layer, compacting what is below, and building a thicker aggregate base before paving, with grading that sends water to the street.
