Manasquan is a shore borough at the southern edge of Monmouth County, where the Manasquan River meets the Atlantic at the Manasquan Inlet. Its walkable Main Street, beach blocks and river neighborhoods make it a busy town year-round and packed in summer. Dan The Paver installs and replaces asphalt driveways for Manasquan homeowners and rental owners, and repaves asphalt parking lots for the downtown shops, restaurants and multi-family properties.
Inlet, river and beach blocks
The borough splits into distinct areas. The beach side, east of the train tracks, is a grid of shore cottages and newer homes on narrow lots near the ocean and the inlet. The downtown around Main Street has older homes and storefronts. Toward the river and the Glimmer Glass, a tidal inlet crossed by a small drawbridge, homes sit low near the water. Route 71 and Route 35 carry most of the traffic through town.
Driveways on the beach blocks are short and narrow, often single-lane or front parking pads. In the older neighborhoods, side drives running back to detached garages are common. When those drives are worn out, our asphalt driveway paving service rebuilds them from the base up.
Sand and a high water table
Manasquan’s soil is coastal sand, and the water table is high near the beach, the river and the Glimmer Glass. Two problems show up again and again: driveways that settle because the sand under them was never compacted, and driveways that hold water because they were set too low. We address both by:
- Fully excavating old asphalt and loose fill.
- Compacting the sand subgrade before building a layered stone base.
- Setting the finished height so water flows out to the street.
If the base is sound and only the top has worn out, milling and repaving may handle it.
Downtown and seasonal lots
The restaurants, shops and offices along Main Street, Route 71 and near the train station rely on small, heavily used lots, and beach-area apartments and clubs need parking that holds up to summer traffic. We repave and rebuild those through our parking lot paving service, ideally scheduled outside the peak season.
Permits
Manasquan regulates curb cuts, aprons and impervious coverage, and flood zone status affects many lots. Talk with the borough construction and zoning office before you change a driveway.
We also work in neighboring Brielle and Sea Girt. See our full service area on the Monmouth County paving page.
Manasquan paving questions
Our Manasquan house is near the Glimmer Glass and the yard gets wet during high tides and storms. Can a driveway be built to handle that?
Yes. Low lots near the Glimmer Glass and the river often have water close to the surface. We remove soft soil, build a thicker compacted stone base and set the driveway grade to match the street so water drains away instead of pooling. Asphalt handles occasional wet conditions well when the base below it is solid.
We have a beach block rental with a tiny parking area. Can you make it fit two cars?
Sometimes. On narrow beach block lots it comes down to the lot width, setback rules and how much of the lot Manasquan lets you cover with hard surface. We can sketch options with you, but confirm the coverage limits with the borough before planning a wider layout.
