Asphalt Driveway & Parking Lot Paving in Union Beach, NJ

Asphalt driveways and parking lots in Union Beach: excavation, base, grading and paving by a family-owned, licensed crew. Free estimates.

Union Beach is a small bayfront borough in northern Monmouth County, facing Raritan Bay between Keansburg and Keyport. Its neighborhoods sit low, laced with tidal creeks, and the town was among the hardest hit in the county during Hurricane Sandy. Many homes have been rebuilt or raised, and with them come new driveways. Dan The Paver installs and replaces asphalt driveways for Union Beach homeowners and paves asphalt parking lots for local businesses and commercial properties.

Bayshore homes and their driveways

Union Beach lots are mostly small, with cape cods, bungalows and ranches on tight streets close together. Driveways are typically short, straight and one car wide, sometimes running beside the house to a detached garage. Rebuilt homes, many elevated, often have a parking area underneath or a wider front drive to hold two cars.

When a house is raised, the old driveway rarely lines up. The entry point changes, the grade changes, and the parking area moves. We plan the new driveway around the finished house, then handle the full asphalt driveway paving process from excavation to final roll.

Low ground and high water

This is one of the most drainage-sensitive places we work. Flat Creek, East Creek and Chingarora Creek wind through the borough, the bay is close by, and much of the town sits only a few feet above high tide. The soil is sandy with silty, wetter layers near the creeks and marsh edges.

That means the base has to be built carefully. We remove organic and soft material, bring in clean aggregate, and compact it in lifts to a firm, stable platform. Wherever the lot allows, we set the finished driveway a little higher than the surrounding ground and give it a clear pitch to the street. Asphalt thickness matches the use: a standard residential section for cars, with extra attention at aprons where the street meets the driveway.

Commercial and industrial lots

Union Beach has small commercial strips, marinas and a notable industrial presence, including the International Flavors & Fragrances plant. For owners of commercial, light industrial and multi-family properties, we offer parking lot paving, plus milling and base repair for failed sections caused by water and heavy loads.

Permits in a flood zone

Much of Union Beach is in a flood hazard area. Ask the borough’s construction and zoning office about driveway aprons, curb cuts and impervious coverage, especially on elevated homes, before work begins.

We also work in neighboring Keansburg and Keyport. See every town we cover on our Monmouth County paving page.

Union Beach paving questions

Our Union Beach home was elevated after Sandy and the old driveway no longer meets the new stairs and parking area. Can you rebuild it?

Yes. Raised homes in Union Beach often need the driveway re-graded to meet a new entry, a parking area under the house or a relocated garage. We remove the old surface, build a fresh base at the right height, and pave so water drains away from footings and stairs. Confirm with the borough what is allowed under or next to the raised structure.

Water sits on my driveway after storms near the creek. Will new asphalt fix that?

New asphalt alone will not fix it; grade and base will. Homes near Flat Creek, East Creek and the bay sit low, and the water table is close. We raise the base where we can, compact it well, and pitch the surface toward the street or a lawn area. In some spots a drain at the low end helps. We explain the realistic result before we start.
