Little Silver is a residential borough in eastern Monmouth County, sitting on a peninsula between branches of the Shrewsbury River and neighboring Red Bank, Fair Haven, Oceanport and Shrewsbury. Its creeks, wooded lots and quiet streets make it a sought-after place to live. Dan The Paver replaces and builds asphalt driveways for Little Silver homeowners and repaves asphalt parking lots for the borough’s small business areas, churches and professional offices.
Where the creeks meet the neighborhoods
Little Silver is laced with water: Little Silver Creek, Parkers Creek and other inlets of the Shrewsbury River reach into the borough from several sides. The historic Parker Homestead and the borough’s train station on the North Jersey Coast Line anchor the older part of town, and Prospect Avenue and Branch Avenue are the main roads people know.
Homes range from older colonials and capes near the center to larger houses on wide wooded lots toward the water. Driveways come in every style here: short straight runs, long curving drives, side-entry garages with parking courts and the occasional circular drive. Larger lots also mean bigger trees, and roots are a frequent cause of heaving. When the problem goes past the surface, a full rebuild through our asphalt driveway paving service is the lasting fix.
Building on low, wet ground
The parts of Little Silver closest to the creeks and river sit low with a high water table, while the center of town is somewhat higher and drier. Our base work adjusts to each lot:
- Removing soft, organic or root-filled soil before any stone goes in.
- Building a thicker compacted stone base on wet sites.
- Grading the finished surface away from foundations and toward lawn or street.
If your driveway has a solid base and only a worn surface, milling and repaving can renew it without replacing the whole thing.
Parking for local businesses
The shops, offices and service businesses near the train station and along the main roads, plus church and school lots, all see steady traffic in limited space. We mill and repave, rebuild failing areas and improve drainage through our parking lot paving service.
Permit pointer
Little Silver regulates curb cuts, aprons and impervious coverage, and creekside properties can have added limits. Ask the borough construction and zoning office before you change a driveway layout.
We also serve neighboring Fair Haven and Oceanport. For more towns, visit the Monmouth County paving page.
Little Silver paving questions
Our Little Silver yard runs down to a creek. Should the new driveway be pitched a certain way?
Yes. On creekside lots we pitch the driveway so runoff spreads into the lawn or a planted area instead of running as a stream down to the water or back toward the house. We also check the low end for soft ground during excavation and add base where needed. Good grading protects the asphalt and the creek bank.
We want a circular driveway in front of our Little Silver home. Is that something you build?
We do. A circular or horseshoe drive needs room for two entrances, so the first step is confirming the borough allows a second curb cut on your frontage. Once that is clear, we lay out the curve, build the base and pave it as one continuous surface so there are no cold joints in the loop.
