Asphalt Driveway & Parking Lot Paving in Englishtown, NJ

Asphalt driveways and parking lots in Englishtown: excavation, base, grading and paving by a family-owned, licensed crew. Free estimates.

Englishtown is one of the smallest boroughs in Monmouth County, a compact historic village completely surrounded by Manalapan Township. Dan The Paver installs and replaces asphalt driveways for homeowners here and repaves asphalt parking lots for the businesses, churches and multi-family buildings in and around the borough center. Because the town is so tight, most jobs here involve short, narrow driveways, older base material and careful work around neighbors, sidewalks and street trees.

How Englishtown’s streets and lots are laid out

The heart of the borough is Main Street, lined with older homes, small shops and the historic Village Inn, where the area’s Revolutionary War history is still on display. Off Main Street you find side streets of older houses on modest lots, plus newer homes toward the edges of town. Driveways here tend to be single-car width running alongside the house to a detached or rear garage, and many have had new layers piled on several times over the years rather than being rebuilt.

That layer-on-layer history is the main thing we see. Layers of old asphalt sitting on thin or mixed base can heave, crack in a web pattern and hold puddles. On those driveways we often recommend a full tear-out and rebuild through our asphalt driveway paving service, because another thin layer on top would only move the problem.

Soil, the lake and base preparation

Englishtown sits in the inner coastal plain, where the ground is mostly sandy loam with some heavier, clay-rich pockets. Lake Weamaconk and the brook that feeds it mean some low lots stay damp long after a storm. Our approach:

  • Excavate down to firm subgrade and remove roots or organic soil.
  • Install and compact a crushed stone base in lifts, thicker where the soil is soft.
  • Grade the surface so water sheds away from foundations and garage doors.
  • Pave and roll the hot asphalt to a uniform, dense finish.

On driveways that are structurally sound but worn, milling off the top and repaving is sometimes enough. Our asphalt milling page explains when that option makes sense.

Commercial lots in and around the borough

Small storefront lots, church parking areas and apartment lots in and near the borough see steady stop-and-go traffic in a limited footprint. We handle milling, base repair and repaving for those owners through our parking lot paving service, scheduling around business hours so customers can still get in.

Before you widen an apron

If your project changes the driveway apron, adds a curb cut or increases paved coverage on a small lot, check first with the Englishtown construction and zoning office. We are happy to talk through the layout so you know what to ask.

We also work throughout neighboring Manalapan and Freehold, and across the rest of the county on our Monmouth County paving page.

Englishtown paving questions

My Englishtown house is on a narrow in-town lot near Main Street. Can a paving crew even get equipment onto it?

Usually, yes. Many older borough lots have a single-width drive squeezed between houses, so we size the equipment to the site, use a smaller roller where the full-size one will not fit, and plan where the dump truck stages on the street. We look at overhead wires, neighboring fences and the curb line during the estimate so there are no surprises on paving day.

Our yard stays soggy near Lake Weamaconk and the brook. Does that change how you build the driveway?

It can. Low ground near the lake and McGellairds Brook tends to hold water after storms, so we dig out soft or organic material, bring the base up with compacted stone, and pitch the finished surface toward the lawn or the street instead of the garage. Getting water off and away matters more on these lots than an extra quarter inch of asphalt.
