Asphalt Driveway & Parking Lot Paving in Keyport, NJ

Asphalt driveways and parking lots in Keyport: excavation, base, grading and paving by a family-owned, licensed crew. Free estimates.

Keyport is a historic waterfront borough on Raritan Bay, framed by Matawan Creek on one side and Luppatatong Creek on the other, with Route 35 and Route 36 meeting just outside its center. Dan The Paver replaces and repaves asphalt driveways for Keyport homeowners and keeps asphalt parking lots in good condition for the downtown businesses, marinas, offices and apartment buildings in town.

Old harbor town, old driveways

Keyport’s streets climb gently from the bay through a downtown of older storefronts and into neighborhoods of Victorian homes, capes and modest postwar houses. Lots are narrow by suburban standards. Driveways usually run in a single lane along the side of the house to a small garage or parking area out back, and many share a property line with a neighbor’s drive.

Those older driveways tend to have been fixed over and over with quick repairs. Once the base under them breaks down, cracks spread, edges crumble and puddles stay for days. A full rebuild through our asphalt driveway paving service fixes the cause rather than the symptom. If you need more room, our driveway widening and extensions work can add a few feet where the lot allows.

The bay and the creeks under your feet

Between the bay and two creeks, a good part of Keyport sits on low ground with a high water table and some old fill. Uphill streets drain better. In practice that means:

  • On low lots, digging out soft soil and building a thicker stone base.
  • On sloped lots, compacting carefully and controlling runoff at the bottom.
  • Everywhere, finishing the grade so water never sits against a foundation.

Downtown and waterfront parking

The shops and restaurants along Front Street and Broad Street, the marina and waterfront areas, and apartment buildings throughout town all rely on compact, heavily used lots. We mill and repave, rebuild failed sections and fix drainage through our parking lot paving service, working in phases where a lot has to stay open.

Before work begins

Keyport has borough rules on curb cuts, aprons and lot coverage, and properties near the water may have flood-zone considerations. Ask the borough construction and zoning office before changing a driveway layout.

We also work across the creek in Union Beach and up the road in Hazlet. Find the rest of our service area on the Monmouth County paving page.

Keyport paving questions

Our Keyport home is on one of the older streets near the waterfront and the driveway runs right alongside the house. Can you pave it without damaging the foundation?

Yes. On narrow side drives we excavate carefully along the foundation, keep the new surface slightly lower than any siding or sill, and grade it so water flows away from the house. We use smaller equipment where the space is tight. Pitching water away from the foundation is one of the biggest improvements a new driveway can make on these older lots.

Is the ground near Luppatatong Creek a problem for paving?

Low ground near the creek and the bay can be soft and slow to drain, so we check the subgrade during excavation. If it is wet or spongy, we remove more material and build a thicker compacted base. That extra step prevents the dips and cracks that show up on older driveways in those parts of town.
