Why Hire Us?

What hiring Dan The Paver actually looks like, from the first phone call and the free estimate to paving day and the final walkthrough.

Anyone can tell you they are the best paving company around. We would rather show you what the experience is like, step by step, so you can decide for yourself whether we are the right fit. Here is how a job with Dan The Paver typically goes, from the first call to the day you pull onto your finished driveway or reopen your lot.

You reach a person, not a call center

When you call or text 732-403-3053, you are reaching a family-owned business. There is no switchboard and no sales team working on commission. Tell us what is going on with your driveway or parking lot, what town you are in and roughly when you would like the work done. If you are in Monmouth County, Ocean County from Toms River north or southern Middlesex County, we will set up a time to come out.

If you are outside that area, we will tell you right away rather than stretching our crew too thin.

The estimate is on site and free

We do not price paving from a satellite photo. A good estimate requires seeing the property, so we come to you. During the visit we look at:

  • The condition of the existing surface and what is causing any damage.
  • How water moves across the property and where it ends up.
  • Soil conditions, slope and any soft or settled areas.
  • How the driveway meets the garage, walkway and street, or how the lot handles traffic.
  • How you want to use the space going forward.

Then we explain what we recommend and why. Sometimes that is a full replacement. Sometimes it is milling and repaving, a widening or a fix to the drainage and edges. If a smaller job will solve the problem, we will tell you.

You get a straightforward proposal

Our proposals spell out what is included so you can compare apples to apples. Look for the scope of removal, the base work, the asphalt thickness and how edges and transitions will be handled. Our guide to what to look for in an asphalt paving contractor lists the questions worth asking any company, us included.

We are a registered New Jersey home improvement contractor, NJ HIC #13VH03282800, and we are licensed and insured. Ask to see proof from anyone you consider hiring.

Paving day is organized

When the date arrives, our mobile crew shows up with the equipment for the job. On a typical driveway, the work moves through a clear sequence:

  1. Removing the old surface or milling where needed.
  2. Grading and correcting the pitch so water drains away.
  3. Adding and compacting aggregate base.
  4. Placing hot asphalt with a paving machine and rolling it to a dense, smooth finish.
  5. Cleaning up the work area.

For parking lots, we plan the work around your business, HOA or tenants so disruption stays as low as possible.

We walk it with you at the end

Before we leave, we walk the finished work with you. We point out how to care for new asphalt in its first weeks, answer any questions and make sure you are happy with what you see. If something needs attention later, you know exactly who to call.

We stick to what we do well

We only pave asphalt driveways and asphalt parking lots. That narrow focus is deliberate. It lets us concentrate on base preparation, drainage and compaction, the unglamorous parts of paving that decide how long the surface lasts.
